What role does Sexual Reproduction have in Evolution?

Sexual reproduction allows the genes of two organisms of the same species to be mixed together and their traits are passed on to the offspring. "Crossing Over" during mitosis adds more chances for genetic diversity in organisms.

When organisms inherit favorable traits, they have a better chance or surviving passing on those traits to their offspring. In turn, these offspring will be more specialized and adapted to their environment. All of these changes over a long time is evolution.
